Career certainly has a different meaning now.  We can negotiate a balance of our time working from home and in the office.  The use of technology has created a storm with chat bots leading the way.  Maybe now is a good time to reframe and take stock.  What does this new way of looking at career really mean.

Talking to my 9-year-old grandson, I was told that there is very little support at school from the teachers as most is provided by way of apps.

We dont have to actually think very much with our study as we now have Chat GPT to do the thinking for us.  All of this is worrying.  I actually had a client tell me that the reason that they wanted to study psychology was because it was the one occupation where AI is not likely to be taking over in the near future.

The pendulum has swung way over where we now are beginning to believe that being isolated is the norm and I am here to tell you that it most definitely is not!  We need interaction, we need connection in order to achieve wellbeing.  Whilst our physical environment that we live in should offer a sense of calm, we also need others around us to validate, support and simply talk to.  Think about a world where we are all isolated and it becomes cold, calculating and remote.

Concentrate on how we can look at creating new occupations where we can be more connected in this world of technological alienation.  roles where we maintain social connectedness as this will be essential to maintain our overall wellbeing.  The occupations where individual’s are working purely with technology are isolating.  There is no mention of jobs around supporting these isolated individuals so maybe that is one area we could be looking at.  Supporting those who are isolated from social connectedness.  Below I have included a link to the National Skills Commission which details emerging jobs.  Lets start thinking outside the square and adding occupations where we are supporting or working with others to the list.
